This restaurant has been famous since the 1980s, and after a few years during the pandemic it’s clear they’re BACK!! We had broccoli beef—best in town, try it—and my favorite snack, onion pancakes. Unlike a lot of Chinese restaurants, you can TASTE the freshness! I’m so happy this neighborhood classic is back up to their winning standards.
My parents began coming here around 1983 and I grew up coming here. On special occasions, we get the lobster lo mein or Peking duck. Also love the chicken wonton soup (and hung tao yee foo fried wonton soup), salt and pepper pork chops, fried chicken, Peking duck, and 3 shredded meats fried rice noodle which you can’t find in many places!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gourmet Carousel, a beloved staple in the heart of San Francisco. The experience was nothing short of exceptional, thanks to the warm and attentive service provided by Cindy Lee, who truly goes above and beyond to keep this cherished restaurant thriving.
The highlight of my meal was undoubtedly the potstickers, which were the best I've ever had. Perfectly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, they were paired with an incredible sauce that elevated the flavors even further. Every bite was a delight, and I can confidently say these potstickers are a must-try.
Overall, Gourmet Carousel offers a wonderful dining experience with top-notch food and outstanding service. I highly recommend visiting this gem for a taste of some of the best Chinese cuisine in San Francisco.
